Call or text Gabriel at 210-291-9451 or Destini at 210-385-5792, email contact@servantmerchants.com, or send us a message through our contact form. A free statement review is a great first step.
What is the difference between a fee and a surcharge?+
A fee is pre-programmed into the payment system or POS and disclosed upfront as part of the transaction. When configured correctly and transparently, this can be compliant. A surcharge occurs when a business adds or adjusts a charge on the back end to recover credit card processing costs — even if disclosed, this can be classified as a surcharge and become non-compliant if done incorrectly.
What does Texas law say about credit card surcharges?+
Texas law (Business & Commerce Code Chapter 604A) restricts how credit card surcharges may be applied. Improperly passing along processing costs outside of a compliant, disclosed pricing structure can result in violations, even when the intent is transparency.
What is the difference between a pre-programmed device fee and manually adding a fee on the back end?+
A pre-programmed device fee is applied automatically at the point of sale as part of a compliant pricing structure. Manual back-end adjustments are inconsistent, often classified as surcharges, and can make revenue reporting appear inflated — impacting taxes even when the amount only offset processing costs.
What is the difference between cash discount and dual pricing?+
With a cash discount program, your posted price is the card price and customers who pay with cash receive a discount at checkout. With dual pricing, you show two prices up front, a cash price and a card price, so customers see both before they pay. Both rely on clear disclosure and on the POS applying the pricing automatically.
Is this legal advice?+
No. Rules from state law and the card brands change over time. We help you set up a transparent, properly disclosed program, but for legal questions about your specific business, please check with your attorney or accountant.
What do merchant services include?+
Merchant services are everything a business needs to accept card payments: the processing account that moves the money, the terminal or POS system at the counter, and the pricing and support behind it. Servant Merchants helps San Antonio businesses with all three, with transparent pricing and no long-term contracts.
Do you require a long-term contract?+
No. We don't believe in locking merchants in. We'd rather keep your business by taking care of you.
Do you only offer one processor or one POS brand?+
No. We're brand-agnostic and not locked into one manufacturer or POS company. We work with 9+ provider options, including Clover, SkyTab (Shift4), Valor Paytech, Dejavoo, PaybotX and Square, and help you choose the best fit for your business instead of pushing one brand.
Which areas do you serve?+
We're based in San Antonio and serve businesses across the area, including Kirby, Boerne, Cibolo, Helotes, Schertz, Converse, San Marcos, Castroville, Hondo, Leon Valley, Seguin, New Braunfels, Corpus Christi, Kerrville, Floresville, Fredericksburg.
Which POS systems do you work with?+
Clover, SkyTab (Shift4), Valor Paytech, Dejavoo, PaybotX, Square and more. We're brand-agnostic, not locked into one manufacturer or POS company, with 9+ provider options, so we can match the system to how your business actually runs.
How do I know which POS is right for my business?+
Tell us how you take payments today: counter service or tableside, appointments or walk-ins, one location or more, and what you need for tips, inventory or online orders. We'll compare the options with you and explain the trade-offs in plain English.
Can my POS run a cash discount or dual pricing program?+
In many cases, yes. The program should be pre-programmed into the POS or terminal so it is applied automatically and disclosed upfront, rather than added manually on the back end. We'll confirm what your chosen system supports during setup.
Is the statement review really free?+
Yes. There's no cost and no obligation. We'll walk you through what we find either way.
What do I need to send?+
Your most recent monthly processing statement is enough to start. You can email it to contact@servantmerchants.com or reach out through our contact form and we'll follow up. Feel free to black out full account numbers.
Will you pressure me to switch?+
No. Our job is to show you clearly what you're paying. If your current setup is a good fit, we'll tell you that.
